All those involved in the wreck were believed to be teenagers, he said.
The person who died was ejected from the vehicle, a Ford Explorer, and pronounced dead at the scene, Mitchell said.
The seven who were injured were transported to Kosair Children's Hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.
"Apparently the driver lost control of the vehicle and it flipped over several times," Mitchell said. "According to witnesses, they were going at a high rate of speed."
Betty Caudle, 80, said she came upon the wreck on her way to the dog park just minutes after it happened.
"Everything was real quiet," she said. "People were just milling around."
After telling someone to call EMS, Caudle said she could see one injured person on the side of the road opposite the car and another person leaning over a third person on the ground."In Kentucky, car accidents are a daily occurrence. The TARC bus barreled through a home on East Chestnut Street Saturday morning. The #19 bus was traveling north on Chestnut Street when it crossed an oncoming traffic lane, plowed through a fence, yard, took out the side of the home and then kept going, tearing into two cars and finally crashing at the side of an apartment complex.
EMS took 5 people, including the bus driver, to the hospital with minor injuries. Harold Springer, the man in the home that was hit by the bus, was also taken to the hospital.
TARC officials say they are putting the Springers up in a hotel until they can find a longer-term housing option. They are also having the home inspected. The Springers say their insurance will cover the repairs. "

Did you know that car accidents are the leading cause of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) in the United States? Most people associate Posttraumatic Stress Disorder with veterans who have fought in wars or victims of violent crimes. The truth, however, is that a car accident can cause this debilitating disorder. The article, Car Accidents are Leading Cause of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, discusses this topic in depth.
Every year, over three million people are injured in car accidents that cause serious injuries and sometimes psychological problems. It has been suggested that almost half of the people involved in car accidents are at a significant risk of developing Posttraumatic Stress Disorder.
Posttraumatic Stress Disorder can be defined as an intense emotional response to an event that was extremely traumatic or disturbing. This disorder can lead to such problems as difficulty with concentration, irritability and insomnia. Some people who are injured in car accidents that lead to Posttraumatic Stress Disorder become too fearful to drive or ride in a vehicle, as it brings back many painful and frightening memories. This fear can seriously impact their lives, making it difficult to go to and from work and participate in family activities. Families are also often impacted when a loved one is experiencing the symptoms of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder.
Physical injuries, such as cuts, bruises and broken bones are easy to identify and treat after a car accident, but psychological damage from an accident is harder to identify. Any time someone is involved in a car crash and starts to experience the signs of PTSD, he or she should be evaluated by a mental health professional. There is treatment available for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, which includes antidepressants and anti-anxiety medication.

Rollover crashes are considered to be some of the most deadly accidents. Ever since SUVs have become popular, it seems as though there have been more reports of serious rollover accidents. If you were injured in a rollover accident, you may be wondering what caused your vehicle to flip. According to experts, there are many potential causes of rollovers.
SUVs, minivans and pickup trucks have a higher center of gravity, as compared to average passenger vehicles. An SUV is three times more likely to be involved in a rollover accident than an average passenger vehicle. Because of this high center of gravity, these vehicles can become instable during sharp turns and sudden maneuvers made by the driver. For instance, if you are driving an SUV and swerve to avoid a near accident by overcompensating in the opposite direction, your vehicle could roll over. Many rollover accidents occur once the vehicle has left the road.
Speed is a common factor in rollovers. Researchers have found that the majority of rollover accidents occur in driving zones where the speed limit is 55 mph or higher. If the driver is driving at an excessive speed, the chances of a serious rollover crash increases. Alcohol has also been linked to fatal rollovers in the United States.
Sometimes a defect in the vehicle can contribute to injuries sustained during a rollover. For example, if the vehicle has a weak roof or poor safety restraint system, injuries to the driver and passengers can become more severe. A few years ago, Toyota Motor Corp. recalled 880,000 SUVs and pickup trucks after a defect was detected that could affect steering. As an owner of an SUV, pickup truck or minivan, you need to stay updated on the current recalls, which can be done through the Office of Defects Investigation.
