A recent article in the
Wall-Street Journal noted that, the attorney general of Florida, Bill McCollum, filed a civil suit against Countrywide Financial Corporation and its CEO. The lawsuit alleges that Countrywide's engaged in deceptive and unfair trade practices by putting borrowers into mortgages they could not afford with misleading rates and penalties. The suit is similar to other suits filed across the country in California and Illinois.
Unfortunately, the news has been filled recently with stories of mortgage companies engaged in similar practices. If you are a borrower and believe that you have been a victim of such practices, please contact
