Defective Products / Total Body Formula

Consumers Sickened From Use of "Total Body Formula " and "Total Body Mega Formula" Products

On March 27, 2008, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued an advisory warning consumers not to purchase or consume the liquid dietary supplement products Total Body Formula in the flavors of Tropical Orange and Peach Nectar and Total Body Mega Formula in the flavor of Orange Tangerine.

The advisory came after the FDA was provided with multiple reports of consumers becoming ill within 7 to 10 days after ingesting this product. The FDA later found that these products contained harmful dosages of the mineral selenium (which is not considered toxic in small amounts), at up to 200 times over the label amount. The FDA also found that the products contained high levels of chromium as well.

Ingestion of these products caused severe reactions in consumers, including muscle cramps, diarrhea, joint pain, fatigue, and significant hair loss.

Total Body Formula and Total Mega Formula Products Distributed in Kentucky

These products were distributed in at least ten states. One of these states was Kentucky. Consumers who took these products and experienced adverse reactions are suggested to contact their health care provider.
